BIM modelling creates and updates model content. BIM coordination integrates disciplines and drives issue close-out. BIM management sets the information-management rules. Design engineering owns calculations and design responsibility. ISO 19650 describes an information-management framework; it does not collapse these jobs into one person called “the BIM”.
Four functions that are not interchangeable

UK BIM Framework guidance is written for people implementing information management according to ISO 19650 — appointing parties, appointed parties, information requirements, protocols. That is management language. Production still needs modellers. Spatial integration still needs coordinators. None of it replaces the engineer who signs.
What delivery teams should actually buy
- If drawings are late because views are not cut — you need modelling capacity.
- If clash reports exist but nothing closes — you need coordination.
- If every package arrives in a different naming standard — you need BIM management.
- If the model is pretty and the single-line is wrong — you need design engineering, not more Revit seats.

We do not sell “a BIM” as a single commodity, and we do not take professional design responsibility unless an appointment explicitly says so — which the current offer does not.
Why data centres punish role confusion
Congestion makes unowned issues expensive. A modeller can move a tray 200 mm. A coordinator has to know whether that tray is on the maintainable path of a switchgear pull, and whether the electrical designer has accepted it. Mixing the roles hides the decision.
